PLEASE HELP SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT CANCER PREVENTION

Boca Raton, FL - A project by four Palm Beach County high school students to fight cancer just got the stamp of approval by Palm Beach County.

The Palm Beach County Commission has declared Sunday, January 15, 2017 as “Don’t’ SUNday.” “Don’t SUNday” is an idea created by four students at West Boca High School as part of a school project to fight cancer.

They created a day to encourage people to get out of the sun for just one day, and learn how to fight skin cancer.

With over 5 million people diagnosed with skin cancer every year, and with South Florida being the epicenter of outdoor sunbathing and other activities, the four students are doing what they can to help fight skin cancer.

The idea came out of a brainstorming meeting when the four students were trying to figure out how to spread information on preventing skin cancer. They’ve started a twitter account: @DontSunDay, and they are working on a website with the same name. Last weekend the four kids stormed south Florida beaches handing out information to sun bathers. The four students are part of a medical honors society program at West Boca Raton High School. The campaign is part of a public awareness project for the organization.

To contact the students for an interview, or to get video of them, please call 561-221-4999.
