CITY OF WEST PALM BEACH STORM UPDATES WILL BE POSTED HERE.

Mayor Jeri Muoio met with senior staff Thursday evening to review city preparations.

City of West Palm Beach emergency operations officials are monitoring the storm. While officials anticipate a significant amount of rain, they are waiting to see if the storm undergoes quick strengthening close to the Florida coast.

If that occurs, there will be little time to prepare. Therefore, city officials remind residents of the following:

1) While you should have done it already, make sure your trees are properly trimmed. However...

THERE WILL BE NO EXTRA PICK-UPS OF YARD DEBRIS. ALL COLLECTION REMAINS ON A REGULAR SCHEDULE. DO NOT LEAVE YARD WASTE OUTSIDE IN THE EVENT OF A STORM.

2) All trash, recycling and yard pick-ups remain on their regular schedules.

3) If there is a significant storm, make sure all unsecured outdoor items (grills, plants, etc.) are moved to a safe place.

4) If there are heavy rains, YOU must make sure the storm drains on your street remain clear of debris. FLOODING IS MADE WORSE WHEN STORM DRAINS ARE CLOGGED.

5) When a storm warning is issued, all construction and work sites in the city MUST BE SECURED. All construction materials must be tied down or removed.

6) Do not call 9-1-1 unless you have an EMERGENCY!

7) Do not drive through standing water. You never know how deep it may be.

Mayor Muoio's senior staff will meet again Friday to review the latest storm track.
