Talk about an artistic challenge!
Is it possible to turn a giant chain link fence into a beautiful piece of art work?
The city's Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA) says YES, and they're offering $15,000 to anyone that can do it!
The CRA owns property at the west end of Northwood Road, and has big plans to redevelopment it. But before anything can be built, the land needs a serious clean-up.
There used to be a gas station on the property, and as a result some environmental clean-up needs to take place. While that work is underway (expected to last a few years), a giant six-foot tall, 300-foot long fence will encircle the area.
So what do you do with a giant, ugly fence in the heart of the city's Northwood art district? Of course, you turn it into art!
The CRA is offering $15,000 to artists that come up with the best ideas for beautifying the fence. It's holding a contest, and you can CLICK HERE to enter.
Two artists will be picked. Each one needs to come up with a project that will last 12 months on the site.
