WPB earns award for city budget

Think of it as the gold medal for those who keep the books!

The City of West Palm Beach Finance Department just got the news that it has won the Government Finance Officers Association award for Distinguished Budget Presentation.

The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program (Budget Awards Program) in 1984.

It encourages and assists state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA’s best practices on budgeting and then to recognize individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.

In other words, the award is for having a budget that does an outstanding job of serving as a policy document and communications device as much as serving as a financial plan.
