Growing West Palm Beach's economy takes employers of all shapes, sizes, and ... flavors!

That's why the city just gave Sloan's Ice Cream an economic development grant to help the local ice cream maker grow its facilities.

In addition to the approximately $650,000 spent by the company to improve its ice cream factory on Technology Place, the city agreed to contribute $41,500 to the upgrades.

The economic development grant is part of the city's overall role in encouraging businesses to either relocate to the city or expand their existing operations.

By doing so, the city helps the private sector create local jobs and increases the tax base upon which the city relies to fund city services.

As with all similar grants, by taking the money, Sloan's is obligated to stay on the property for at least five years. If it moves before five years, it will be required to pay the money back to the city.
