Bernardo Hasbach from Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts and Phillip Taylor from Oxbridge Academy are among ten local high school students selected for a Max Planck internship program.
100 students applied to the competitive program, which includes three tracks for neuroscience, scientific programming and mechanical engineering Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (MPFI) selected students seeking to further their knowledge of science and advanced technologies to participate in its competitive summer internship program.
The program, which runs June 13 to July 22, 2016, offers a unique opportunity for high school students to work side-by-side with MPFI research scientists. The six-week internship is designed for students with an interest in brain structure, function and development, and the advanced imaging techniques and technologies used in neuroscience. Internship tracks offered include neuroscience, scientific programming and mechanical engineering.
Interns will participate in research projects alongside MPFI scientists, prepare a written scientific abstract based on their research project and deliver a short presentation at the end of the program.
