BREAKING NEWS: New cracks found in Alexander Apartments

New cracks have been found in the brick facade of the Alexander Apartments in downtown West Palm Beach, and the new cracks are on a new side of the building.

Last week, the brick face on the east side of the building came crashing down. Today engineers discovered cracks in the north side facade.

Inspectors also found the north face is also separating from the side of the building. A six inch gap was discovered on the north side of the building.

As a result of the new problems found, it is estimated that residents will not be able to return to their homes until at least Wednesday of this week.

Property owners continue to construct scaffolding around the building, and are working on plans to reinforce the brick facades on both the east and north sides of the building.

Meanwhile, the property owner's engineer has sent some preliminary findings to the city. Those details are contained in a previous post on this site.
