Watch your Government LIVE! WPB joins PERISCOPE!

January 26, 2016 (West Palm Beach, FL) - From breaking news to the lighter side of the City of West Palm Beach, you can now tune in and watch LIVE events right on your phone! West Palm Beach Mayor Jeri Muoio's 2016 State of the City Address marked a social media milestone for the city. It was the first time a city event was carried live on Periscope, the app that allows you to watch live video from anywhere in the world. Periscope provides the city with an unprecedented oportunity to directly reach residents. All you need is a smart phone and the Periscope app. Follow the city's Periscope account at @WestPalmBch for alerts when an event is being carried live. The use of Periscope is the next extension of Mayor Muoio's #OpenAccess commitment that began several years ago. In addition to the app, notification of a live event is also sent to the city's Twitter followers @WestPalmBch. The city plans to use Periscope to provide information in breaking news situations as well as normal day-to-day operations. The city's initial plans are to try to carry one or two events per week. West Palm Beach is now the only city in the area (to the best of our knowledge) to use Periscope to provide citizen's with a new, live window into city events and information.
